HEIC→JPG — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about formats, quality, privacy and how HEIC to JPG Converter works.

General

Frequently asked questions

Is heictoojpg.org free?
Yes — every converter is free, with no watermark and no account.
Why can't I open HEIC files on my computer?
HEIC relies on the HEVC codec, which many systems and websites do not support out of the box. Converting to JPG makes the photo open everywhere.
Are my photos kept private?
Uploaded photos are processed in an isolated workspace and deleted automatically shortly after download. We never share or index them.

HEIC to JPG

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file and why does my iPhone create them?
HEIC is Apple's High Efficiency Image format, used by default since iOS 11 because it stores photos at roughly half the size of JPG with the same quality. The trade-off is compatibility — many non-Apple devices and websites cannot open it, which is why converting to JPG is so common.
Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce the quality of my photo?
Not visibly. At quality 92 the converted JPG looks identical to the original; the only change is a slightly larger file size, because JPG is less efficient than HEIC.
Can I convert all my iPhone photos at once?
Yes. Upload a whole batch of HEIC files and they are all converted, then delivered as a single ZIP download.
Will the photo's date and orientation be preserved?
Orientation is respected so portrait photos stay upright. Core EXIF data is read to render the image correctly; for privacy, sensitive location metadata is not embedded in the output by default.
Is the HEIC to JPG converter really free and private?
Yes — free, no watermark, no signup. Uploaded photos are processed in an isolated workspace and deleted automatically shortly after you download.

HEIC to PNG

Frequently asked questions

Does HEIC to PNG add transparency to my photo?
No. Conversion preserves whatever the original contained. A normal iPhone photo has no transparent areas, so the PNG looks identical — PNG simply gives you the ability to add transparency later in an editor, which JPG never can.
Why is my PNG file so much larger than the HEIC?
HEIC uses aggressive lossy compression to save space, while PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel intact. That trade is expected: you accept a bigger file in exchange for an editable, artefact-free image.
Will the PNG be ready to open in Photoshop or GIMP?
Yes. PNG is a native format for every major image editor. The converted file opens directly, with full colour and resolution preserved from the original HEIC photo.
Can I convert a whole folder of HEIC photos to PNG at once?
Yes. Upload as many HEIC files as you like and each is converted individually, then returned together as a single ZIP download so you can grab the lot in one click.

HEIC to PDF

Frequently asked questions

Can I control the page order in the finished PDF?
Yes — pages appear in the exact order you upload the HEIC files. Arrange or rename your files first if order matters, then add them in sequence and each becomes a page in that order.
Is one photo placed per PDF page?
Yes. Each HEIC photo becomes its own full page in the document, which is ideal for scanning forms, receipts, contracts, or any multi-page paperwork captured with your iPhone.
Will the text in my photographed pages stay readable?
Yes. Pages are rendered at print-friendly quality, so typed and handwritten text remains legible. Shoot pages flat, square, and in even light for the sharpest possible result.
Can I combine photos taken on different days into one PDF?
Absolutely. Source files can come from anywhere in your camera roll. As long as you upload them together, they are merged into a single PDF regardless of when each was taken.

HEIC to WebP

Frequently asked questions

Why convert HEIC to WebP instead of JPG for my site?
WebP files are usually smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, so pages load faster and use less bandwidth. Choose JPG only when you need an image that opens reliably outside web browsers.
Do all browsers support WebP?
Yes. Every current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge displays WebP natively. Only very old browsers lack support, which you can cover with a JPG fallback if needed.
Will WebP visibly reduce my photo's quality?
At sensible quality settings the difference from the original is very hard to notice, even on detailed photos. You gain a much smaller file in exchange for a negligible change you are unlikely to see.
Can I batch-convert many HEIC photos to WebP?
Yes. Upload a whole set of iPhone photos and each is optimised to WebP individually, then delivered together as a single ZIP so you can publish an entire gallery in one pass.
